Age: ~5-6 yrs. Weight: ~50 lbs. Max completed a three month training program with inmates at the Green River Correctional Complex in Central City, KY. He is now registered as an American Kennel Club CANINE GOOD CITIZEN. He is housetrained and knows multiple commands. Max came from a neglect situation and spent a long time at the lonely shelter waiting for his former owner's court case to be processed. He loves to run and play and may get along with some dogs during casual interaction but he should be the only pet living in the home. He really loves attention, especially if it's in the form of a walk around the neighborhood! He has also passed his Freshman K9 5-week training course at Tri-State K9 University. Max knows how to retrieve keys, and turn on/off light switches. He is a working dog who definitely needs duties to perform at home for his person. He also needs plenty of daily exercise to maintain his happy state. Max would NOT be an appropriate service dog for a child because of his protective nature and the childs inability to understand and prevent Max from going into protective mode. Max entered the shelter on 3/30/11. He is staying in a foster home. Max has had a rabies shot, 7-way shot, bordetella, and been wormed. He is neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Our adoption fee is $130.00 and it helps to cover a portion of the dog's vetting costs. The adoption process includes the completion of an application followed by an interview.
